Simpson Street building damaged in fire comes down

Rizzo’s Cabinets is being demolished after it was severely damaged in a fire in late November

THUNDER BAY - One of several buildings on Simpson Street severely damaged by a fire late last year is coming down.

Demolition of Rizzo’s Cabinets was underway Thursday afternoon.

Last November, the building was severely damaged by a structural fire, along with several other adjacent buildings including structural damage to the former Hell’s Angel’s Clubhouse and water damage to the Underground Gym.

The fire was deemed suspicious by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and handed over to police to investigate.

Police released a video of a possible suspect and appealed to the public for help identifying him or her.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information that could assist investigators is encouraged to contact Thunder Bay Police at 684-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.p3tips.com.
