Single-engine plane crash north of Kenora under investigation

Investigators with the Transportation Safety Board are investigating after a single-engine aircraft crashed near the Manitoba border on Saturday

KENORA, Ont. - A single-engine aircraft has crashed north of Kenora near the Manitoba border.

The crash happened on Saturday just before 1:30 p.m. local time 60 miles northwest of Kenora.

Investigators with the Transportation Safety Board are travelling to the site by air to gather evidence and assess what happened.

The aircraft, a Piper J-3 Cub, was carrying one pilot and one passenger and was privately registered.

It is believed one person sustained serious injuries, but according to a spokesperson with the Ontario Provincial Police, no further details are available at this time regarding the condition of the occupants of the aircraft, as it is still part of an active investigation.
