Sioux Lookout OPP officer facing assault with a weapon charge

OPP have also charged a 37-year-old female in the alleged incident, which occurred when the officer was off duty.

SIOUX LOOKOUT – An Ontario Provincial Police officer from Sioux Lookout has been suspended with pay while facing charges of assault and assault with a weapon.

According to a release issued by the OPP, investigators charged the officer in conjunction with an incident that occurred while the provincial constable, a veteran of 10 years on the force, was off duty.

A 37-year-old female, also from Sioux Lookout also faces assault and assault with a weapon charges.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 3.

Police say the names of both suspects are being withheld to protect the identity of the victims.

None of the charges have yet been proven in court.
