SIOUX LOOKOUT, Ont. -- Two people from Dryden are facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Sioux Lookout.

Provincial police stopped a vehicle on First Avenue near Cedar Crescent on Sunday after the driver was observed to not be wearing a seatbelt. An OPP news release issued on Wednesday said officers observed drugs in plain view and seized what they described as a "small quantity" of marijuana, Xanax and methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia.

A 20-year-old from Dryden has been charged with two counts of drug possession while a 28-year-old, also from Dryden, is facing one count of drug possession.

Both have been released on a promise to appear and are due back in Sioux Lookout court later this month.
