Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is looking more closely at the injuries sustained by two people involved in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday in the Marathon area.

OPP officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 17, but the driver refused to comply and continued eastbound.

The 15- year-old driver then lost control of the car and it struck a rock face.

Both the driver and the 15-year-old suffered serious injuries in the crash and were taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital, and later transferred by air ambulance to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Three investigators and a forensic investigator have been assigned to the case.

The arm’s-length agency, in a release issued Monday afternoon, states they are looking for any witnesses to the incident, especially anyone who might have audio or video recordings.

Twelve officers and 11 civilians have already been identified as witnesses.
