MARATHON, Ont. — Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has terminated an investigation into an interaction between the OPP and a civilian that occurred in January 2017.

According to a statement from the SIU, the incident involved a 40-year-old man, and occurred after officers were dispatched to a Marathon residence where a domestic situation had taken place.

The man became involved in a struggle with the officers, was arrested and subsequently taken to the detachment where he was lodged in a cell.

Following his release from custody, he went to the local hospital.

Further details about the case were not released by the SIU, but the agency's director, Tony Loparco, said "The medical evidence indicates the man did not suffer a serious injury. As such, I have terminated the investigation into this incident."
