THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting six new COVID-19 cases.
With nine previous cases having been resolved since Monday, the active caseload fell by three on Tuesday, to 66.
It was the first decline after six consecutive days of gradual growth from a low of 49 on April 19.
Four of the new cases are the result of close contact with infected individuals, and two are connected to travel outside Northwestern Ontario.
The TBDHU reported that it had identified one case as a Variant of Concern, following 11 such cases that it reported on Monday.
It said one more patient is now receiving treatment in hospital, where seven district residents were registered as COVID patients on Monday.
