Social Services for rural communities

Social services are coming to Kakabeka Falls. The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board will open a satellite office in the tourist community as a pilot project that will run for six months, beginning in September.

The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board will open a satellite office in the tourist community as a pilot project that will run for six months, beginning in September.

Staff expects the office will serve rural communities to the west of Thunder Bay including Kaministiquia, Murillo, Neebing, Raith, Rosslyn, Savant Lake, Shebandowan, Slate River and Upsala. 

An intake worker will be available on Wednesday, along with case workers in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays to administer Ontario Works, Housing Services and Child Services. It will also offer referrals to other services, based in Thunder Bay.

 Clients may continue to access servicse at the TBDSSAB office on May Street in Thunder Bay.
