Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the city of Thunder Bay, warning of the potential for significant rainfall Monday evening.
The national weather service issued the advisory Monday morning, warning that an area of showers and thunderstorms is expected to develop Monday evening and affect areas northwest of Lake Superior.
Significant rainfall amounts of 15 to 40 millimetres are likely with amounts in excess of 50 millimetres possible by Tuesday morning.
Environment Canada will continue to monitor this situation closely. A rainfall warning may be issued later Monday if rainfall amounts of 50 millimetres or greater are expected.
