THUNDER BAY -- Speeding to stop your girlfriend from breaking up with you gets no sympathy from the Thunder Bay Police Service.

THUNDER BAY -- Speeding to stop your girlfriend from breaking up with you gets no sympathy from the Thunder Bay Police Service.

Police on Saturday arrested a man after clocking him driving 114 kilometres an hour in a 50-kilometre zone on Balmoral Street. The 23-year-old South Gillies suspect told police he was in a rush to try to work things out with his girlfriend.

The man now faces stunt-driving charges for exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 kilometres an hour, loss of his driver’s licence and his vehicle was impounded.

The suspect, who police did not name, is expected to appear in court on Nov. 16.
