Speeding motorist faces drug-trafficking related charges

A 45-year-old is facing drug related charges following a routine stop by city police on Wednesday morning.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers conducted a routine stop of a speeding driver early Wednesday morning, which later led to an arrest and drug trafficking charges.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were in the area of Fort William Road near the Harbour Expressway just after 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21 when they observed a dark sedan driving at a rate of speed higher than the posted speed limit.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and learned the male driver was wanted by other police services, at which point police arrested the accused without incident.

During the arrest officers located and seized a quantity of suspect crystal methamphetamine, a quantity of suspected fentanyl, Canadian currency and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Scott Allan Rex STEVENSON, 45, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Heroin for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

He appeared in bail court on Wednesday, Oct. 21 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of Friday, Oct. 23.
