THUNDER BAY – A potential speeding ticket was upgraded for one Ottawa man after a local police officer discovered 300 grams of pot in his vehicle.
Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say a patrol officer spotted a speedy driver on Highway 11-17 in Kakabeka Falls Sunday morning.
The officer pulled the vehicle over, and after speaking with the driver noticed a “very strong odour of unburned marijuana.”
The 26-year-old male driver was arrested and a search of his vehicle resulted in the seizure of more than 300 grams of pot and what police describe as “other controlled substances.”
The driver now faces nine drug-related charges.
He appeared in court Monday and remains in custody.
