NEWS RELEASE
ST. PAUL'S UNITED CHURCH
*****************************

After a two-year search process and an eight-month wait, St. Paul’s United Church, 349 Waverley Street, has at last enthusiastically welcomed their new minister, Rev. Desire Tiriwepi.  Rev. Desire comes from Zimbabwe, via the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) where he was a minister in the African Methodist Church for 14 years.

Fluent in the Congolese and Zimbabwean languages of Lingala and Shona, as well as French and English, Rev. Desire hopes to reach out to his African compatriots in Thunder Bay.

He will have a three-year appointment at St. Paul’s, while he learns all he needs to know about being a minister in the United Church of Canada.  (In 1925 the Methodists, Presbyterians, and Congregationalists joined together to form the United Church of Canada; therefor much will be familiar.)

What won’t be familiar to Rev. Desire and his family will be our winter weather, to which they have already had a powerful introduction.

Rev. Desire comes with his wife, Judith, and their three children, Blessing, 17, Brian, 13, and Beverly, 8.  All are eagerly looking forward to life in Canada and Thunder Bay in particular, where we are sure they will be made very welcome.

Services at St. Paul’s are at 10:30 a.m. (proof of vaccination required) and also online at http://trinityunited.church/livestream/.
