THUNDER BAY -- A home-grown opera company is ready to show Thunder Bay what they've got.

A group known as "Opera Northwest" is now in rehearsals for its debut performance next weekend. Opera Northwest is led by Thunder Bay native and artistic director Theresa Thibert who has studied the art as far away as Tuscany, Italy.

She said opera was the first musical. It has drama, laughs and relatable characters, and she said there is also a very healthy opera-loving community in Thunder Bay.

The group includes a pianist and seven operatic singers. Opera North West's first show is next Friday, Jan. 15 at St. Paul's Anglican Church on Ridgeway Street.
