A 28-year-old man is in custody following a standoff with police in Frenchman's Head.
Members of the Lac Seul Police Service were notified of a domestic disturbance shortly after midnight on Sunday morning and immediately attended the scene where a male barricaded himself inside a residence on the Lac Seul First Nation, possibly with firearms.
The man was arrested without incident outside his residence just prior to 4:30 p.m. EST in the afternoon and was taken into custody by the Lac Seul Police.
Assistance was requested from the Sioux Lookout OPP and the North West Region Emergency Response Team to the community, and the man is reportedly not communicating with police. It was the ERT team that made the arrest.
Roadblocks had been set up in the community and police have evacuated nine nearby residences. Those have been since taken down and those evacuated have been allowed to return to their homes.
