Stolen vehicle investigation leads to impaired charges

RED LAKE, Ont. – A stolen motor vehicle in Red Lake has resulted in impaired driving charges for a 27-year-old.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers were advised of a motor vehicle that had been stolen on Oct. 17 just after 6 a.m. from a residence in Red Lake.

Officers were able to locate the suspect and place the man under arrest and return to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old of Red Lake, was charged with two counts of operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, theft of a motor vehicle, and driving while under suspension.

He was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Dec. 17, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly, don't drink and drive.
