THUNDER BAY – A 36-year-old man from Thunder Bay has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 after police recovered a stolen vehicle.

Police say an undercover officer in an unmarked car followed the vehicle, after it was spotted travelling on May Street on Sunday at about 1:45 p.m.

The vehicle was reported stolen to police on Saturday.

A marked police cruiser assisted in stopping the stolen vehicle near Cumming Street, where the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was found hiding in a yard and subsequently arrested.

The suspect appeared in custody on Monday and was remanded into custody.
