THUNDER BAY – City streets will be on the agenda as council returns Monday.
A report will be heading to city council outlining what, if anything, the city can do with money that was supposed to be used on Cumberland Street this year.
Council passed a resolution last month telling administration to negotiate with existing contractors to put the money into one or more other projects this season.
Gravel roads will also head to council with a report that says gravel is more cost effective than chip seal or pavement, something McIntyre residents have been asking for.
"Administration remains skeptical about the ability of many rural roads to withstand road breakup of surface treated or paved conditions given the non-engineered type of road base conditions that are typical of rural roads," the report states.
A pedestrian crossover, possible with flashing amber lights that drivers would have to stop at, could be heading to Neebing Avenue near Mary Street. A traffic study was done around St. Ann's School after residents had concerns about pedestrian safety.
Along with suggesting Neebing near Mary as a crossover location, right now there is no safe pedestrian crossing on Neebing, a sidewalk on Francis Street around Neebing and Alpine Avenue will be included in a future budget.
