The picket lines are down at the Northern Lights Credit Union after a tentative deal was reached Thursday.

Fourteen local workers should be back to work early next week pending ratification of the deal between the credit union’s board and the workers of the two local branches.

“We’re feeling very good,” said union steward Diana Petrunak. “We’re glad it’s over. We want to get back and help out our members. We’re happy.”

Some of the issues stated by a Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union representative when the strike began on Aug. 29 were around salary and some internal operations like scheduling. Perks to non-unionized branches were also a concern.

“We just wanted to be fair and have what they had,” Petrunak said, adding she and her co-workers are satisfied with the deal.

And despite a month on the picket line, Petrunak said morale was high amongst the striking workings until the end.

“Even with the wind blowing and being cold, we were still all in good spirits,” she said. “We were out there for a reason and we completed our job.”
