Students at Gron Morgan School received about an hour away from the classroom Friday to raise money for something close to their hearts.

Kids gathered in the school gym for Jump Rope for Heart. The event has been held annually at the school for the past 13 years in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Boys and girls were skipping, jumping and dancing to the beat of the music. Each student raised a minimum of five dollars to participate. Coordinator Gayle Davis said the heart and stroke foundation is something that touches a lot of families.

Davis said the event raises around $2,000 a year for the foundation.
