Stunt driver clocked going 150 km/h in a 90 zone

A driver was seen driving at excessive speeds along Hwy 11/17 in Thunder Bay over the long weekend.

THUNDER BAY — A Thunder Bay resident is without a license or vehicle after being charged with stunt driving over the long weekend. 

On Sunday evening around 9 p.m., Thunder Bay opp was doing traffic enforcement along Hwy 11/17 and clocked a vehicle travelling over 150 km/h in a 90 km/h zone. 

Officers performed a traffic stop and investigated and determined the 28-year-old driver was also intoxicated. 

The accused has been charged with stunt driving, as well as charges related to driving while intoxicated. 

The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.
