Superior-Greenstone teachers reach deal with school board

MARATHON -- Elementary teachers in Greenstone and communities down Lake Superior's north shore have reached a tentative collective agreement with their local school board.

MARATHON -- Elementary teachers in Greenstone and communities down Lake Superior's north shore have reached a tentative collective agreement with their local school board.

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board announced the tentative deal had been reached with its local Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario bargaining unit on Sunday.

Details will not be released until both parties have ratified the agreement.

"This is part of a two-tiered negotiation process where they reached an agreement at the provincial level in the fall and in the interim, we've been negotiating at the local level on a lot of items that aren't the big ticket items that are included at the provincial table," said school board education director David Tamblyn.

Elementary school teachers across the province voted to accept a new collective bargaining agreement on Nov. 13.
