Suspect arrested after 60-year-old man fatally assaulted

THUNDER BAY - Police have arrested a 37-year-old man after a fatal assault Thursday afternoon.

The Thunder Bay Police Service confirmed it is investigating the city's second homicide of 2016 after the 60-year-old victim died in hospital from his injuries.

Officers were called to the Casablanca Apartments on Simpson Street around 3:30 p.m. and upon arrival found the suspect allegedly assaulting the victim. The suspect was said to be combative and non-compliant with officers.

The identities of the victim and suspect have not been released.

Charges against the suspect have not been disclosed.

The investigation is ongoing.
