Suspect arrested after fire and motor vehicle collision

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay OPP have charged a city man with arson and with impaired driving after a Sunday evening incident that began at Dog Lake.

Officers were first called to a report of a structure fire at Dog Lake Resort that was suspicious in nature.

According to OPP, a camper trailer had been set ablaze, and a vehicle had been seen leaving the scene.

While they were responding to that call, the officers were advised of a motor vehicle collision that had occurred on Kam Current Road in Gorham Township.

They found a vehicle in the ditch, with the driver still at the scene.

Further investigation led police to arrest the 36-year-old Thunder Bay man on several charges including impaired driving, arson and break and enter.
