Suspect arrested following recent convenience store robbery

A Nipigon resident is facing robbery charged following a late afternoon robbery on the city's south side.

A quick police response led to the location and arrest of a male involved in an armed convenience store robbery Monday afternoon.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to the Circle K convenience store at 745 Simpson Street just before 4:50 p.m. on Monday, March 15 following reports of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

When police arrived they learned a male had entered the store, robbed a store clerk at knife-point, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers received a description of the accused and began searching the area.

Police located a male suspect nearby and took him into custody without further incident at about 4:55 p.m. An investigation confirmed the male was linked to the robbery.

Jordon Lawrence Alexander SMITH, 27, of Nipigon, Ont., is charged with Robbery.

He appeared in bail court on Tuesday, March 16 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
