THUNDER BAY -- The defence lawyer for one of the suspects in the city’s most recent homicide case plans to begin the process of seeking bail.
Monica Spence, who is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of her cousin, 62-year-old Richard Spence, appeared in person at the Thunder Bay Courthouse on Friday.
Her lawyer, Christopher Watkins, scheduled her next date for Feb. 12 in bail court. That is the same date her co-accused, Daniel Debassige, is next scheduled to appear.
Watkins also told the court he intends to later schedule a subsequent bail application hearing.
The body of Richard Spence was found inside a Secord Street apartment in the early morning hours of Dec. 21. Monica Spence was arrested later that afternoon. Debassige was arrested a few days later.
Police previously identified Debassige as the boyfriend of Monica Spence.
None of the allegations against either of the accused have been proven in court.
