Suspect in custody after property-damage spree

A 23-year-old male was arrested after windows on a number of vehicles were smashed in and residential doors were kicked open on Wentworth Crescent.

THUNDER BAY – A 23-year-old who allegedly attacked a witness with a stick, has been arrested and faces 17 charges after several complaints were received about property destruction Wednesday morning on Wentworth Crescent.

According to a release issued later that day, Thunder Bay Police say they received a number of reports at about 6 a.m. of a male smashing car windows and kicking in doors of homes.

The suspect was apprehended on Wentworth Crescent at about 6:30 a.m., based on descriptions given by witnesses.

The suspect, who was not named by police, faces 14 counts of mischief under $5,000, one count of theft under $5,000, assault with a weapon and breach of probation.

Police say the victim of the alleged stick attack did not require medical attention.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
