Suspect involved in November firearms incident arrested

Brianna Lynn Netemegesic has been on the run since November and has been remanded into custody. The 21-year-old also faces second-degree murder charges for an earlier incident that took place last March.

THUNDER BAY -- A woman wanted in a firearms incident from last November has been taken into custody after being on the run for nearly three months. 

Brianna Lynn Netemegesic, 21, was already facing charges for second-degree murder stemming from a March 2020 death near a Picton Avenue residence. 

Police say the accused now faces charges a counselling offence that is not committed and two counts of failure to comply with a judicial release. She was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday, appeared in court on Wednesday and is expected back in court on March 24. 

Netemegesic was granted release from custody on Aug. 20  following a bail hearing application in the Superior Court of Justice. Part of her conditions required her not to possess any weapons, according to court documents.

Her co-accused in the November incident, Owen John Boyce, was charged on Nov. 23 with  one count of uttering a threat to cause death or bodily harm, using a firearm while committing an indictable offence of uttering threats to kill, pointing a firearm, carrying a handgun for the purpose of committing an offence, possessing a firearm without being a holder of a licence, failure to comply with a release order, possessing a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and use of a firearm in a careless manner.

The second of two suspects connected to a November 2020 incident involving a firearm has been arrested. 

Brianna Lynn NETEMEGESIC, 21, of Thunder Bay, is charged with: 

- Counselling Offence That is Not Committed 
- Failure to Comply with Judicial Release x 2 

She was taken into custody by the Thunder Bay Police Service without incident on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. 

NETEMEGESIC appeared in bail court on Wednesday, March 3 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of March 24, 2021.

Male suspect involved in firearm incident located, arrested 

One of two people sought by police following an incident involving a firearm last week have been located and arrested. 

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Uniform Patrol Branch located accused male Owen John BOYCE, 23, of Thunder Bay, at a bar on the city’s south side at about 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22. He is expected to appear in bail court this morning. 

Accused female Brianna Lynn NETEMEGESIC, 21, of Thunder Bay, remains at-large and remains wanted by the Thunder Bay Police Service.

UPDATE: Picton Avenue standoff concludes, suspects remain at-large 

A standoff at a Picton Avenue home has concluded and police continue to search for two suspects connected to a Thursday evening incident involving a firearm. 

Police are requesting public assistance in locating Owen John BOYCE, 23, of Thunder Bay and Brianna Lynn NETEMEGESIC, 21, of Thunder Bay. Photos of both suspects are being released to the public and are attached to this media release. 

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the zero-to-100 block of Picton Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 following reports of a firearm incident. 

Police learned a suspect had pointed a firearm at another person. An investigation led police to identify a suspect and the residence they may have fled to. Police contained an area around the home, which was held until a warrant was obtained to allow officers to lawfully enter the dwelling. 

The contained area was released shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. 

Continued efforts are being made to locate the suspects. The two accused and victims of this incident were all known to each other.
