THUNDER BAY -- A man suspected of robbing two banks made his first court appearance Wednesday.

The first reported robbery took place just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the CIBC in Victoriaville Mall.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the man produced a note to the bank teller and demanded money. The man then fled the bank with cash.

The second reported robbery took place just after 5 p.m. at the TD bank on Memorial avenue.

Police say a suspect, believed to be the same man involved with the CIBC robbery, entered the TD bank and demanded money from the bank teller. The man told the teller that he had a weapon.

Police say the man fled that scene with cash.

Plain-clothed detectives observed a male matching the descriptors of the suspect at a bus stop in the Intercity Area. The man was placed under arrest before 5:30 p.m.

Trevor William Richmond, 40, of Thunder Bay, has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of breach of probation.

He has been remanded to the District Jail with a February 13, 2015 court date.
