Suspected impaired driver charged following single-vehicle crash

On Friday, July 17, 2015 at approximately 9:21 pm, officers were advised of a single vehicle collision at the Silver Harbour Conservation Area in the Municipality of Shuniah.

Upon arrival, officers determined the driver of a Ford Focus had struck several objects at the Conservation Area including a large birch tree. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.

While speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol emitting from the drivers breath and the driver exhibited obvious signs of impairment. Subsequently, the driver was found to be over the legal limit.

Caitlin MCISSAC, 18 years of age, from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged

with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.
She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on August 28, 2015 to answer to the charges.
