Police arrested two people by Friday morning and charged them in connection with the Jan. 4 robbery of a Shoppers Drug Mart.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers say an investigation into the robbery of the Memorial Avenue drug store led investigators to an apartment in the 1400 block of Victoria Avenue East just before 8 p.m. Thursday. Police took a 24-year-old woman into custody from that address.

Police say officers seized a small quantity of pills.

The investigation then led police to a home in the 100 block of Academy Parkway just before 2:30 a.m. Friday. Police found what they are calling a large quantity of pills from that home. A 26-year-old man was taken into custody following that search.

Both suspects are expected to appear in court Friday morning.

The 24-year-old suspect has been charged with robbery, possession of a controlled substance. The 26-year-old suspect faces charges of possession of stolen property, robbery and uttering threats.

Police say they are still investigating the robberies of two other area pharmacies. Janzen’s Pharmacy was the scene of a robbery on Dec. 28, 2010, while Shoppers Drug Mart on Red River Road was robbed by a female suspect on Jan. 5.

Anyone with information about those two robberies are asked to contact either the Thunder Bay Police Service, or Crime Stoppers.
