THUNDER BAY – The case of the Field Street murder suspects continues as the number of lawyers involved try to move the case forward.
Five of the co-accused in the city’s fifth homicide of the year appeared at the Thunder Bay Courthouse on Friday.
Larissa Shingebis, Felton Sakanee, Kevin Wabason, Christopher Meeseetawagesic and Keith Mishenene all face second-degree murder charges in connection to the July 18 death of 44-year-old Lloyd Oskineegish, whose burned body was found in the Field Street area.
James Chapais has also been charged with second-degree murder.
Each of the suspects has their own lawyer though Shingebis has out of town representation and Wabason told the court he is in the process of trying to acquire a lawyer based out of Toronto.
Local counsel told the court they are still waiting on some outstanding disclosure from the Crown before they can proceed.
The next date in the case has been scheduled for Jan. 2 to allow the lawyers to accommodate their schedules to set up a focus hearing.
