Suspended driver has truck impounded after impaired charge

OPP News Release

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an adult male driver with impaired driving on August 14, 2015 at 6:03 pm. 

During routine patrol, officers stopped a 1997 Pick-up truck on 800 Block of Wright Avenue in Fort Frances after observing a male driving who was known to officers as being a suspended driver.  As officers were speaking with the driver, determined that he had been drinking.

The driver, 27 year old Robert ARDEN of Wollaston Township, ON was arrested for failing a roadside screen device and transported to
OPP Detachment for breath tests.

Subsequently the driver was charged with,

-Having Over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
-Driving under Suspension

The vehicle was impounded for a minimum of 7 days and he was issued a mandatory drivers licence suspension.  He is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Court on October 15, 2015. 

The OPP reminds motorists that operating a vehicle under the influence of any amount of alcohol is dangerous and jeopardizes your own safety as well as the safety of others.  If you are planning to consume alcohol then plan to have a sober person drive you home.  The public may report an impaired driver by calling the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
