THUNDER BAY — A unique opportunity is at hand for members of the Thunder Bay Public Library.
A new partnership with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra will give 224 library members the chance to attend symphony performances for free during the course of the 2024-25 concert season.
“Libraries are a great way for communities to pool their resources so that opportunities like this one can be made available to everyone,” said Raili Roy, director of community development for the Thunder Bay Public Library, in a prepared statement.
“This is an incredible addition to the library’s collection of Thunder Bay attractions and experiences and we can’t thank the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra enough for working with us to make it happen.”
Sets of tickets for each show in the symphony's five series – Northern Lights, Voices, Masterworks, Pops and Family – will be available through each of the library’s four branches.
Tickets for most of the shows will come in pairs, except for the Family shows, which will come in sets of four.
The recipients will be determined by random drawing of members of the library who register their names ahead of each show.
“The love of music begins with the experience of music,” said Ryleigh Dupuis, executive director of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, in a statement.
“This partnership lets us create new access to that experience for more of the community. We’re very pleased to work with the library to make it possible.”
The first draw for tickets will be held on Sept. 27 for the Oct. 11 Northern Lights performance that will feature vocalist Paula DiGiuseppe.
The registration period for those tickets runs from Sept. 20-26.
