Officials with TbayTel say the company is increasing planned spending this year to improve its 4G wireless network.

Company president Don Campbell said they are bumping expenditures from the now $5-to-$8 million, to $9.2-million in order to accelerate planned network improvements.

That raises the two-year investment in the network to more than $35 million.

So far this year, work has concentrated on improving coverage in core areas of the city.

The rest of the year will be devoted to non-core areas.
