Team Dubinsky remains undefeated at U18s

OTTAWA – Team Dubinsky continued their winning ways on Monday at the Canadian Under-18 Curling Championships.

Skip Claire Dubinsky scored two in the sixth end to take a 4-3 lead on Saskatchewan’s Shawna Simpson, then stole two more in the seventh and captured a 6-3 win to improve to 2-0 at the event, being contested this week in Ottawa.

Dubinsky, lead Lily Ariganello, second Bella McCarville and third Rylie Paul, are tied atop the Pool A standings with Ontario No. 2 and New Brunswick, both of whom sit at 1-0 entering play on Monday.

In other Draw 4 action, Manitoba No. 1 downed British Columbia No. 2, 9-1; Newfoundland and Labrador No. 1 demolished Newfoundland and Labrador No. 2 by a 19-1 count; Nova Scotia No. 1 doubled up Nova Scotia No. 2 8-4; Prince Edward Island No. 1 edged Alberta No. 2 4-3; Northern Ontario No. 2 knocked off Yukon No. 1 17-0; and British Columbia No. 1 edged Quebec No. 1, 6-5.

Ontario No. 2 and New Brunswick No. 2 also picked up wins.

Team Dubinsky will take on Ava Acres and her Ontario No. 2 rink on Monday night.
