THUNDER BAY -- A group of local high school students are using their building skills to help promote literacy.

Throughout Thunder Bay, residents can expect to see more free little libraries popping up thanks to the Grade 10 technology class at St. Partick's High School, which has been building four little libraries for the last month-and-a-half.

The project was developed by Leona McEwan, a former principal at the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board. She thought it was a great way to promote literacy, while giving the construction students a class project.

Technology teacher Cory Gannon said he jumped at the opportunity to have his students take part in the project and that they were engaged the entire time.

The locations have yet to be determined for the new little libraries. There are several in the city already, including High Street and Hill Street.
