THUNDER BAY – An 18-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly using a replica gun to steal a car.
The Thunder Bay Police Service arrested the suspect after he carjacked a 19-year-old driver in a Confederation College parking lot at around 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Police say the victim picked up the suspect in Northwood and proceeded to drive to the college. Once they arrived, the suspect pulled what appeared to be a firearm and left with the vehicle.
The victim was not injured.
OPP officers stopped the vehicle just west of English River later in the day and turned the suspect over to police.
The suspect is expected to appear in court Saturday morning. He has been charged with robbery, uttering threats and other weapons offences. He is also charged with breaching two court orders.
