THUNDER BAY -- An investigation into child luring online has resulted in a teenage male facing multiple charges.
According to a Thunder Bay Police Service media release, an investigation was launched in December 2023 after receiving reports that an individual arranged a meeting with a youth for sexual purposes.
The investigation revealed that a 13-year-old female had been having online conversations with another individual claiming to be 14-years-old.
During the conversations, the individual shared unsolicited sexually explicit images with the female.
The two met in person and the female realized the male she had been communicating with was not 14-years-old.
The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Ontario Nawagesic, who police arrested on Feb. 27.
Nawagesic has been charged with two counts of luring a person under the age of 16 by means of telecommunication and making sexually explicit material available to a person under the age of 16.
