Teen found dead, police seek answers

Police say a report of an overdue motorist lead to an extensive search and the discovery of a crash scene off of Highway 589.

LAPPE – Police are looking for information on a collision along Highway 589 that left a 19-year-old dead.

Ontario Provincial Police say on Saturday, Aug. 23 at about 2 p.m. they received a report about an overdue motorist, their last known whereabouts on Highway 589 between Moving Post Road and Old Hall Road.

Police conducted an extensive search of the area and eventually located a vehicle a considerable distance from the highway, north of Moving Post Road.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have turned to the public, asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision  or be in possession of dashcam footage or surveillance footage between Moving Post Road and Old Hall Road to phone police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800=222-8477. They can also contact police at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
