RED LAKE, Ont. – A teen has been arrested and charged with uttering death threats at two schools in Red Lake, Ont.
A youth from Red Lake, age 14, is the latest of three teenagers charged within a three-day period.
Police, in a release issued on Tuesday, said they were investigating threats allegedly made to a school in the Northwestern Ontario community when they learned threats had also been allegedly made at a second school in the area.
The 14-year old youth from Red Lake was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause death contrary to section and is being held in custody for a bail hearing.
Additionally, another 14-year-old Red Lake youth was charged with uttering threats to cause death, and a 13-year-old youth was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death on Tuesday. Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court in Red Lake on May 10.
The youngsters, whose genders were not revealed by police, cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
OPP say they plan to work closely with both schools and their boards to ensure the safety of students and staff.
