TERRACE BAY, Ont. -- After years of studying ways to bring liquefied natural gas to their community, the township of Terrace Bay has finally come to a solution.

TERRACE BAY, Ont. -- After years of studying ways to bring liquefied natural gas to their community, the township of Terrace Bay has finally come to a solution.

With the government recently announcing a project to bring natural gas to communities across the province, Terrace Bay was quick to jump on board.

The town has teamed up with Northeast Mid-Stream, to bring liquefied natural gas to the North Shore.

It was a key talking point at the recent AMO meetings, and earlier this month Terrace Bay officials signed a precedent agreement with the company to officially move forward with project plans.

With this new energy source, Mayor Jody Davis says residents will be saving big on energy costs.

It is now up to Northeast Mid-Stream to move forward with the plans.

The North Shore could see liquefied natural gas within three years.
