It wouldn’t be a winter storm without event cancellations.
Here are some of the events and facilities that have been cancelled and closed due to Friday morning’s winter storm:
- The Lakehead University men’s hockey game for Friday has been rescheduled and will now take place on Saturday. Game 3, if necessary has been moved to Sunday night. Game time both nights is still 7:30 p.m. LU's opponent, the York Lions, was unable to get into Thunder Bay.
- Wolfie, the Thunderwolves mascot, reported on Twitter Friday morning that the Lakehead University fieldhouse is closed for Friday.
- Northern Ontario School of Medicine has cancelled Friday classes
- Lakehead University and Confederation College classes are cancelled for Friday. The Lakehead University Grade 11 preview day has also been cancelled
- All Lakehead Public Schools, Thunder Bay Catholic Schools and both board offices are closed Friday.
- Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute "Cabaret 2014 Through the Decades" scheduled for Friday evening has been postponed. A new date has not been set
- Classes at Everest College have been cancelled
- The Canada Games Complex, Churchill Pool and Volunteer Pool have all been closed at 11 a.m.
- The Thunder Bay District Humane Society is closed to the public
- Norwest Community Health Centres Living with Diabetes program scheduled for Friday afternoon has been cancelled
- Children's Aid Society offices in Thunder Bay, Nipigon, Marathon and Geraldton have all been closed
- The George Jeffrey Children's Centre, Thunder Bay Children's Centre, W.J. Griffis Children's Centre and the Nanabijou Child Care Centre are all closed
- Footsteps Family Centre Daycare, Little Lions, Kinderplace Childcare Centre and Step by Step Childcare Centres are all closed
- Residential mail delivery has been stopped for the day, but business routes are being continued.
- The Kingfisher Lake Outdoor Education Centre open house scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled.
