THUNDER BAY – An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared in a third area of St. Joseph's Hospital, health authorities have announced.

The latest outbreak impacts the hospital's 2 South (Medically Complex Services) area, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported Tuesday.

Two other COVID-19 outbreaks remain active in the hospital, according to the health unit: one in the 4N area, declared April 27, and another in the 1E area, declared May 2.

Another outbreak in the hospital's 5 South area was declared over on Monday.

St. Joseph's Care Group has refused to answer questions from TBnewswatch as to the number of cases involved in the outbreaks, or whether they have caused any hospitalizations or deaths, citing privacy issues. Other long-term care operators have provided the same information on request.
