THUNDER BAY — A third area of St. Joseph’s Hospital is experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported Monday.

The latest outbreak is in the hospital’s transitional care (4 South) unit. Its geriatric assessment and rehabilitative care (5 South) and medically complex services (2 North) units also remained in outbreak, according to the health unit’s website.

Also on Monday, the health unit reported a facility-wide COVID-19 outbreak at Glacier Ridge, a Jasper Drive retirement home owned by Chartwell.

The health unit did not provide details of the outbreaks, but stated that it had initiated assessments.

The two facilities are among four high-risk settings in the district currently experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks, according to the health unit’s website.

The others include a facility-wide outbreak at the Jasper Place assisted living home, and outbreaks in the Plaza 2 and Plaza 4 areas of the Pioneer Ridge long-term care home.
