THUNDER BAY —  A third resident at Southbridge Roseview has died from COVID-19.

The long-term care home in Thunder Bay is in a confirmed COVID-19 outbreak with 45 active resident cases and 26 active staff cases, according to the Southbridge Roseview website as of Friday, Dec. 4.

A total of three residents have passed away as a result of the virus.

All staff are required to participate in surveillance testing as directed by the local public health unit.

“With community spread still being a major concern, this regular testing will help us detect new positive staff or asymptomatic staff early and limit the risk of potential exposure to our residents,” a notice on the long-term care’s website says.

Two other COVID-19 deaths were reported by the long-term care home on Nov. 28 and Nov. 30.
