Thirty-four year old man charged with attempting to lure child for sexual meeting

THUNDER BAY – A 34-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly trying to arrange a sexual meeting with a 14-year-old girl.

Police announced on Friday they had arrested Jeremy Elmer Rintaluhta and charged him with child luring.

Police were first tipped off by the girl’s parents last year and they discovered their daughter was having online communicating with an older man.

The investigation determined Rintaluhta was allegedly sending messages of a sexual nature to the girl and attempted to meet with her for a sexual purpose.

Officers attempted to meet with Rintaluhta on multiple occasions before issuing an arrest warrant. He was spotted by an off-duty officer on Wendesday

He appeared in court on Friday and remains in custody at the Thunder Bay District Jail.
