THUNDER BAY -- The province’s police force is expressing extreme disappointment with the results of this season’s Festive Ride.

The Festive Ride, an annual campaign that sees increased Ride programs set up throughout the holidays, is conducted annually by the OPP.

Across Ontario, OPP detachments collectively laid nearly 600 impaired driving charges, and issued more than 485 warn-range suspensions. A year ago the OPP laid 587 impaired charges and issued 504 warn range suspensions.

Thunder Bay detachment OPP  spokeswoman Sgt. Shelly Garr says the local detachment handed out seven impaired driving charges laid and four warn range suspensions.

Last year the local detachment handed out three impaired driving charges.

The campaign runs from Nov. 24 to Jan. 2.
