OPP News Release:
(KENORA, ON) Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kenora Detachment, Kenora Street Crime Unit (SCU), Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau (OCEB)-Kenora Drug Unit, Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Treaty Three Police Service have charged three people with drug related charges following an ongoing investigation.
On Monday April 20, 2015 at approximately 12:00pm, police conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17A. The police investigation led to the arrest of the male driver and search of the vehicle. Police located cocaine and Canadian currency inside the vehicle.
On Monday April 20, 2015 at 9:00 pm, as a result of the vehicle stop, a search warrant was executed on a residence North of Kenora.
The combined total of drugs seized from the vehicle stop and residence was, approximately 70 grams of cocaine, 84 grams of marijuana along with various prescription pills with a street value of around $8,500.
As a result of the investigation, the vehicle driver, Joel DANIS, age 42 of Saint Anne Manitoba, has been charged with Trafficking a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance x 3, Possession of a Schedule II Substance-under 30 grams, Possession of a Schedule II Substance under 1 gram contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
Amber BALL, age 38 of Kenora, has been charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance under 1 gram, Possession of a Schedule II Substance-under 30 grams and Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Maurice DANIS-FISCHER, age 20 of Kenora, has been charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance-under 30 grams and Possession of a Schedule II Substance-under 1 gram contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The investigation is continuing.
All subjects to appear in court on June 11, 2015 to answer to the charges.
