THUNDER BAY -- City police have charged an 18-year-old woman following a three-vehicle crash that led to “rush-hour havoc” on the city’s south side.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials say the woman was charged with failing to stop for a red light.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. Thursday when the woman ran the red light and collided into a pickup truck in the middle of the intersection at Arthur and James Streets.

As a result of the initial collision, the pickup truck involved slammed into a nearby SUV that was stopped at the light.

Police say all three vehicles sustained heavy damage and needed to be towed away.

It took police more than an hour to get traffic moving again.
